Great news for our lease customers at Bentley Atlanta! As of January 1, 2018, House Bill 340 has changed the way the one-time title ad valorem tax (TAVT) is calculated for leased vehicles. This new bill will result in significant savings for customers who choose to lease their vehicles in the state of Georgia.
The new bill is a revision to the 2017 tax law, which previously required customers to pay tax on the entire fair market value of the vehicle they are leasing. Under the new system, tax will now be calculated based on the sum of the lease payments. Because the sum of the lease payments is often quite less than the total value of the vehicle, this is a much fairer system for lease customers.
